About us: located just off the Panthéon, Le Violon Dingue has been attracting both English- and French-speaking patrons since 1987 to what is surely the FIRST proper all-American dive bar in Paris: a strikingly long wooden bar with panelled walls, dim lighting, an eclectic decor of mirrors and fluorescent neon lights, countless bumper stickers and signed banknotes, and lively rock and dance music all night long.
International expats, Latin Quarter students, passers-by, tourists and many regulars from the Panthéon-Mouffetard neighborhood flock here every day of the week for one of the most enticing happy hours in the business!
Imported beers, over 40 cocktails à la carte, shots… there’s something for everyone.
People also come here to watch live sports, relax, dance, chat, or play games like beer pong when there’s enough space, so as to unwind after a hard day’s work.
But what makes Le Violon Dingue what some call one of Paris’s best-kept secrets?
Later in the evening, the club part of the bar in the basement opens its doors to give way to a more festive and danceable atmosphere until early morning, and (very) many of Paris’s party-goers flock there around 2 a.m. when the neighborhood goes dark.
No vinyl floors or modern nightclub decor here: a large semi-circular bar awaits you in a 13th-century vaulted cellar, opening onto both a dance floor and a more laid-back corner for those simply looking for a little more peace and quiet!
